Member StandardsThe Society for Holistic Therapists and Coaches (SHTC) exists to provide the General Public and Health Professionals with a body of regulated professionals, all qualified to accredited levels, and who all obey the appropriate NOS National Occupational Standards. All of our members have appropriate professional qualifications that are either directly accredited in their own right (e.g. NVQ's and Degrees), or are from QCA / SQA approved Awarding bodies. We do not accept members who only have independently accredited awards. The only exception being those restricted members who submit to NOS compliance and prompt adherence to usual standards. All our members are contracted by their membership terms and conditions to adhere to the appropriate National Occupational Standards (NOS) for therapies offered. The NOS are officially set professional standards in the UK. Our members all have to submit yearly evidence of professional insurance to an appropriate level, and adhere to a code of professional conduct and ethics. How to use the Online RegisterYou can look for a therapist in one of four ways:1. Search via areas 2. Search via alphabetical list of therapists 3. Search via primary therapy 4. Search the site by keyword If you search via areas, you will be led through Country, District and town to find the therapists in your choice of area. If you can not find a therapist in your exact location, you can then use the "back" function on your web browser to find the nearest choice for you. Many of our therapists have travel arrangements, or are in locations with easy commuting access. If you choose to search via alphabetical list, you will see a simple list of therapists and their primary location. By searching via primary therapy you will find therapists who specialise in a particular therapy. This is only their declared first choice of therapy and you should note that many therapists have more than one professional competence.
