Welcome to the SHTC (Society of Holistic Therapists and Coaches).

We are a UK Based professional association of therapists and life coaches formed to represent those therapists and coaches who have externally accredited qualifications to appropriate standards. We exist to enable the public to contact appropriately qualified therapists, and to provide professional support and registration for our members.

3. Email any additional information such as copies of insurance or other certificates. If you have a joint award, we only need to see the externally accredited body certificate, not the inhouse certificate. HERE

Once accepted applicants must gain insurance cover before emailing the SHTC for online listing in our SHTC & SFT Directory.

Cost of Levels of membership: (correct as of 2011)

Student: £10 per year (April - March)
Studying towards an externally accredited award

Ordinary Practitioner: £50 per year (April - March)
In practice and adhering to NOS, but not yet in possession of an externally accredited award.

International Practitioner: £50 per year (April - March)
In practice and adhering to the rules and laws of the Country / State of practice.

Non- Traditional Practitioner: £50 per year (April - March) [New category from 2009]
In Practice in a healing style where qualification is by attunement or faith rather than qualification. Must adhere to Healing NOS or Reiki NOS where applicable in order to maintain appropriate standards and carry professional insurance. Also applies to ordained spiritual healers.

Associate Practitioner: £50 per year (April - March)
In practice, adhering to NOS and with a Level 3 externally accredited award.

Full Practitioner: £50 per year (April - March)
In practice, adhering to NOS and with a Level 4 or above externally accredited award. Includes BSc, MSc and above from accredited universities.

(Practitioner memberships subtract £10 if applying after September 30th in the year).

Please note that practitioner level memberships include a validation charge that is split over the first 3 years. After 3 years a renewal rate applies, this is currently slightly lower than the initial rate but is subject to change.

We no longer accept postal applications. This is due to an unacceptable number of items of post being lost by the Royal Mail. We have also been plagued by a high number of cheques that have bounced from applicants. Therefore payment is now only permitted in advance via paypal. We have been forced to cancel our PO BOX address, since despite 3 years of complaints, the Royal Mail has failed to get the service working, but has still increased the cost from around £70 to £170 per year. We are looking into alternative providers at the moment (April 2011)
