Welcome to the SHTC (Society of Holistic Therapists and Coaches).
We are a UK Based professional association of therapists and life coaches formed to represent those therapists and coaches who have externally accredited qualifications to appropriate standards. We exist to enable the public to contact appropriately qualified therapists, and to provide professional support and registration for our members.

The British Medical Journal offers a range of modules designed for medical doctors, nurses and other health professionals to use for CPD. You can either pay to join and have full access, or you can select from the range of free courses. These are acceptable by the SHTC as CPD courses for training. You will need to register and you are warned that there is a high level of medical terminology. The Open University. The OU is a fully accredited UK University and despite it's image as a distance learning only University, does provide practical training, seminars and examination. A range of appropriate courses and modules exist including relating to basic counselling skills, complementary health, health and social care and psychology. Applicants in Scotland on low income or in receipt of benefits / DLA or Tax credits may be able to do undergraduate training with fees covered by a funding scheme (Scotland only).
